Trendy Tuesday ~ Tangerine Tango

So the verdict on Trendy Tuesday #1 ~ The Moustache was split 50/50. 50% of you want to see it stick around, 25% of you want it gone, and 25% of you could go either way. I personally think it's cute and quirky, but you won't see me heading out to buy Moustache pillows any time soon!

If you read a lot of design blogs, you've probably heard by now that Pantone has announced it's colour of the year, Tangerine Tango.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Over the past few years, we have seen an abundance of bright, loud primary colours that came into play with the latest colour blocking trend. Tangerine Tango follows suit with this trend as it is a bold, energetic colour, but at the same time it has a softness and warmth to it. Is this the new face of colour blocking? are we shying away from the electric neon type colour in favour for something just as bold but with a softer edge?

So Pretty...this colour mixes so well with a soft Seafoam green.

Love this Seafoam chair with Tangerine Piping from CB2.
Tangerine also looks lovely paired with a soft Grey.

You don't need to add a lot of Tangerine to make a statement. Look how your eye is instantly drawn to these simple pillows.

A single zig zag painted Tangerine on this Chevron wall adds just the right amount of colour to this space.
